USMC Rifleman's Creed

USMC Rifleman's Creed by Major General William H. Rupertus

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots

 me. I will...

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

A hymn for the ages

The Marine Corps Hymn.  It is the oldest official song in the United States military, and one of the most inspirational tunes ever composed.

The lyrics were based on the accomplishments of the world's finest fighting force over the last 236 years and pay homage to the heroic deeds and terrible hardships endured by Marines since the year 1775.

Every Marine, past and present, knows these words and honors his predecessors when the hymn is sung with pride.  For those of you who haven't served, here are the lyrics and the hymn itself.

Our REAL heroes

Here is a photo of what a real American hero looks like:

God bless us for having men like this standing up to defend our freedoms and protect us.

Hard charger, we owe you more than we could ever pay you.

Semper Fi and all the best......

The best USMC quotes

Here is a list I compiled of the best USMC quotes around.  Enjoy!

The greatest Marine of all time

This small piece of electronic turf is reserved to honor the greatest and most beloved United States Marine of all time:

Lieutenant General Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller

Chesty was known for many accomplishments.  He is the most decorated Marine in history, and one of only two men (and the only Marine) to be awarded five Navy Crosses.
