Wow.
Where to even begin......
I guess the first thing that a person needs to understand is that Congress decided that it could pass a law on universal healthcare coverage because someone, somewhere, somehow decided that healthcare coverage is a commodity involved in interstate commerce.
Now, you have to realize that Congress is not empowered by the Constitution of the United States of America to pass or enforce legislation on any one of the 50 states, unless certain requirements are met. Interstate commerce is one of them.
Is there anyone in America, who is not smoking crack, that honestly believes that health insurance coverage can be constituted as a product or good that gets moved in between different states???? Really????
I submit to you that anyone who truly in their heart believes this must also believe in the tooth fairy.
Once you get past the total absurdity of healthcare being a good that is transported from state to state, this little game gets quite simple......Congress has no right to impose its will upon the states if interstate commerce is not involved. It is the Constitution of the United States that forbids this; the highest law in the land.
The real issue here is the federal government's continuing desire to centralize the power of governing in this country.
To cast some perspective on this, we need to look back to the beginnings of government in this country.
The Constitution, as written by our founding fathers, was expressly designed to provide the states of this country with most of the governing power, with a couple exceptions. Their only intent for having a federal government was for the following purposes:
- Maintain a standing army for the defense of the nation.
- Secure the borders of the country.
- Provide and maintain infrastructure necessary for commerce.
That is it.
How much more do the feds control now?
Our founding fathers would be spinning in their graves like a rotisserie chicken if they knew about social security, medicare, welfare, food stamps or Obamacare, all programs legislated on the federal level.
This would represent to them the existence of an overly powerful federal government imposing their will upon the states. This was one of their main reasons why they left Europe and came to this country in the first place.
You see, their idea was that if states controlled the law, and an individual didn't agree with it, he could simply move to another state with different laws. If enough people felt this way and did the same, states with unpopular laws would be forced to abandon them or lose their population. It is much more difficult to leave your country compared to changing states.
Also, our founding fathers intended for the Constitution to be interpreted literally, and be a binding non-flexible document free from the whims and manipulations of politicians concerned with popularity, with one exception. That was if there was a good enough reason, with enough supporting votes, an amendment to the Constitution could be added. They never intended for the Constitution to be "read between the lines" or be a "living document" with the singular exception of amendments.
Once you have made this understanding, it is easy to see how much the highest law of our land has been bastardized and mutilated by the federal government to increase their powers.
Over time, the powers of our states have been emasculated while the federal government has grown into a careening juggernaut. The laws and philosophies laid down by the greatest statesmen ever to govern have been corrupted by the ass-clowns that you and I and our ancestors have elected into office over the last eighty years. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.
Once that snowball starts rolling down the mountain, it gets harder and harder to stop.....our federal government has been getting up a head of steam for decades now; Obamacare is simply the next step in a chain to total federal government control.
We get the exact government that we deserve.
May God have mercy on our souls........
LWM out..................
