An interesting use for dogs.

An interesting and useful reason for owning a dog in suburbia was recently posted by our friends over at The Survivalist Blog.

Besides the commonly held reasons of advanced intruder warning from barking and actual physical attacks by guard dogs, this post presented another highly useful tactic that can be easily applied by having a dog- reconnaissance!

Now, you may be able to perform some light duty general recon of your neighborhood by walking, jogging or bicycling the streets around your home, but to have an in-depth look at things without raising suspicions taking a dog out for a walk is nearly perfect.

As a long time dog owner, I can tell you that nobody is paying you any attention while your mutt is out there sniffing around every other blade of grass along the street.  They may be admiring old Fido, or commenting to themselves what an ugly beast he is, but their attention will not be on you as you are scoping out problem areas in your neighborhood, cover & concealment, available fields of fire, suspicious vehicles, abandoned homes, potential drug houses, etc.  You will have much more time and leeway to get this mission accomplished by using man's best friend as a cover during your ops.

Just make sure to keep a couple poop bags handy.... ;-)

LWM out............
